1. Who we are

Steleg (Pty) Ltd ("Steleg", "we", "us") is the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy, in terms of South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). We operate out of Pimville, Soweto, Gauteng.

2. What we collect

Depending on which form you submit on this site, we collect:

• Driver registrations: full name, South African ID number, phone number, WhatsApp number, email address (optional), province and area, licence code, PrDP, years of experience, vehicle types, vehicle ownership, availability and shifts, age group and gender (both optional), any documents you upload, and your consent choices with the date you gave them.
• Employer requests: company name, contact person, email address, phone number, location and the details of the role.
• VerifyForce, Services, ProxiMedia and general contact enquiries: company name, contact person, email address, phone number, and the content of your message or enquiry.

3. Why we collect it

We process this information to:

• Assess driver registrations, including background and licence verification through our verification partners.
• Match registered drivers with Steleg rider jobs and with employers who are hiring. We only share your profile with an employer if you consented to it, and never your ID number or documents without asking you first.
• Report anonymous totals (for example, how many people registered or were placed, by age group, gender and area) to our funders and partners. These reports never identify you.
• Respond to enquiries about VerifyForce, workforce sourcing, ProxiMedia or general questions about our services.
• Contact you by phone, WhatsApp or email regarding your application or enquiry.
• Meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.

4. Background verification checks

Where you register as a driver, or a corporate client requests a VerifyForce check, your ID number and related details may be shared with our verification partners — MarisIT, Windeed and VerifyNow — solely to perform criminal record, identity and licence verification checks.

5. How we store your information

Form submissions are stored in a secured database with access restricted to authorised Steleg staff. We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects anonymised usage data such as pages visited and general location. You can opt out using your browser's cookie settings or a Google Analytics opt-out extension.

7. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, and to object to how it is processed, and to withdraw your consent. To ask us to delete your information, use our data deletion page or email info@steleg.co.za. For anything else, contact us using the details on our Contact page, or call 078 894 9331.

8. Complaints

If you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with POPIA, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).
